COMPETITION GUIDELINES - SPRING 17

Please see information regarding our up-coming competition schedule for the next few months, if you have any questions please contact Coach Richards on ydsc.headcoach@gmail.com

Performance Squad:

After Counties we have 8 weeks to work back up again for Millfield Super Series 18/19th March (originally we were doing Exeter Level 1 meet the following week but it looks to be cancelled). This is a level 1 long course meet and ideal race practice before regionals and a last chance qualifier for British Champs in April. I would like everyone to compete in this and we will need to go through your event entries on a case by case basis. Please make sure you see me before handing in your race entries.

Depending on performances at counties those that qualified for British Camps in April may only do a few 'off' events.

Between the Super Series and regionals there is 6 weeks of training before 15 yr and over and 11 weeks for the 11-14 yrs. These are good training blocks to make sure we have enough time to work hard, and taper off for peak performances.

IF anyone does not qualify for regionals you have the option of competing at Weston Super Mares Level 3 meet (short course) on 14th/15th April.

Potential 2:

If swimmers have qualifying times for the Millfield Super Series 18/19th March they should enter this meet, it is good long course race practice, especially for regional swimmers.

You also have the option of entering the Weston Super Mare level 3 Meet (short course) on 14th/15th April, unless you are competing in the 15 yrs and over Regionals.

We will then look at a long course meet in May to target.

Potential 1, Development 2 and 1:

All swimmers should enter the Weston Super Mare level 3 meet on 14th/15th April.  Please follow the competition guides sent out a few weeks ago. The ASA recently opened up 100m events for the middle age group so to stay in line with them, swimmers may enter 100 Backstroke, Breaststroke and Freestyle.

Please talk to your coaches or myself if you have any questions regarding what events to enter.

As a guide swimmers should compete in no more than 4 races a day.

We will hold in house time trials towards May and June and look for another level 3 meet to compete towards the end of the academic year.
