Welcome - our new Assistant Head Coach;

Aaron Rickhuss

We are delighted to announce the appointment of our new Assistant Head Coach, former top ranking British swimming, Aaron Rickhuss.

As the club goes from strength to strength under the guidance of Head Coach Rebecca Richards, Rickhuss completes the strong coaching team of this growing competitive club.  Aaron is a highly successful swimmer in his own right, having competed at all levels - from county record holder for the well renowned club, Plymouth Leander to an England international medallist.

Aaron has won British national, individual and relay medals and has also held previous British number 1 rankings.  Whilst competing until very recently, Aaron is highly regarded in Britain amongst sprint events, particularly the 50m and 100m Freestyle.

Aaron started his coaching career with the next generation of athletes at Plymouth Leander, in the pool and land training, setting high standards in the junior program with various medallists at different levels.  Aaron was also an assistant coach to swimmers Ruta Meilutyte (World Record Holder and Olympic Champion) and Ben Proud (Commonwealth Champion and Olympic Finalist) and has just returned to the UK from coaching in Abu Dhabi.

Aaron commented, “I am really looking forward to working with the talented, young swimmers at Yeovil District Swimming Club.  I can’t wait to share all my experience and knowledge with the team and work with Coach Richards to build an even more successful club”.

Head Coach Rebecca Richards said “Aaron stood out as an exceptionally strong candidate.  He has an incredible pedigree as a swimmer but once I saw his dynamic coaching style on the pool deck, I knew he would be the perfect leader for our junior squads.  Between us, with the help of our amazing volunteer coaches, we are looking forward to a very bright future here at YDSC.  We will be scouting for new local talent to rise through our ranks, so if you are as passionate about swimming as we are, please get in touch!”

Aaron will also be leading the swimming programs for both Sherborne Prep School and Sherborne Boys' School and we look forward to working together.
