ProSwimwear is an online store which sells swimwear and training equipment.  It is competitively priced and every time you shop using the link above it earns YDSC a commission! So if possible please buy your gear from ProSwimwear to help support our club! Click the image above.

All YDSC swimmers should arrive with the following basic equipment properly adjusted, named, and in good working order prior to the start of each session:

  • Well-fitting goggles (preferably 2 pairs)
  • Swimming hat (preferably YDSC)
  • Snorkel (nose clip may be required by some swimmers)
  • Kick float
  • Pull buoy
  • Fins
  • Kit bag
  • Drinks bottle (filled preferably with water or squash)
  • Swimming costume or trunks
  • Towel
  • Finger paddles
  • Hand paddles
  • Thera band

We are pleased to include information about swimming sanitary (period) pants as part of our inclusive kit guidance. Following discussions with coaches and in response to parent enquiries, we recognise that some swimmers may benefit from wearing swim period pants for comfort and confidence during training and competitions. These can be worn while swimming and are designed specifically for use in the water.

To support families, we recommend exploring trusted online retailers. For example, teenage swim period pants can be found here:

Providing this information aims to ensure all swimmers feel supported, prepared, and able to participate fully at all times.

  • Racing costume or trunks
  • Spare costume (for emergencies!)
  • 2 x towels
  • 2 x pairs of goggles
  • YDSC swimming kit to be worn at all times
  • At least two drinks bottles (700ml+)
  • Snacks (e.g. energy bars, bananas)

To ensure longevity and performance of swim kit, swimmers should follow these care guidelines:

  • Rinse immediately after use: All swimwear and equipment should be rinsed in clean, cold water after every session to remove chlorine.
  • Dry naturally: Allow items to air dry away from direct heat sources such as radiators or tumble dryers, which can damage materials.
  • Avoid leaving kit in bags: Damp items should be removed from kit bags as soon as possible to prevent odours and deterioration.
  • Wash gently when needed: Swimwear should be hand-washed or machine-washed on a gentle cycle with mild detergent (avoid fabric softener).
  • Check equipment regularly: Ensure goggles, fins, and other equipment remain in good condition and fit properly. Replace worn or damaged items promptly.
  • Label all items clearly: This helps prevent loss and ensures kit can be returned if misplaced.

Proper care helps keep kit hygienic, comfortable, and competition-ready.

Club kit can be obtained from our shop – please take a look at the Swim Shop page for more information: Swim Shop – Yeovil District Swimming Club
